Our Story
Built by skilled hands. Grown through trust.
Vuyos Trans World did not begin with a big sign outside or everything figured out. It began with skill — one sewing machine, a flat in Langa, and a craftsman who understood leather and vehicles from the inside out. A torn Quantum seat became a doorway. A solution became a business. A family made room, made sacrifices, and kept believing.

The Road Ahead
01
Before There Was a Business, There Was Skill
Leatherwork, taxi industry, a torn Quantum seat
Vuyos Trans World did not begin with a perfect workshop, a big sign outside, or everything already figured out. It began with skill. Before the seat covers, before the vehicle interiors, and before the name became something customers could recognise, there was a man who knew how to work with his hands.
Luvuyo
The workshop
At the centre of the story is Luvuyo — a craftsman of real talent and hard work. Long before vehicle upholstery, he worked with leather, shoes, stitching, and handmade products. His skill was not something he only studied. It was something he lived with his hands — built slowly through measuring, cutting, shaping, and learning how material behaves when tested over time.
His work carried weight before vehicle interiors ever came into the picture. He had received newspaper attention for his craftsmanship, and his skill had opened doors — including engagement with a Chinese company in shoe manufacturing. Before there were taxi seat covers, there were shoes. Before there was Vuyos Trans World, there was already craftsmanship.
“Before there were taxi seat covers, there were shoes. Before there was a business name, there was already craftsmanship that mattered.”
The Problem That Opened the Door
A Torn Quantum Seat. A Doorway.
At some point, a Quantum’s seats started tearing. That sounds like a small thing — but sometimes the beginning of a business does not look dramatic when it first appears. Sometimes it looks like a problem in front of you. Something ordinary. Something that needs fixing.
Luvuyo understood the taxi industry. He had been involved in it, so he did not only see the vehicle from the outside. He understood that a taxi is not just a vehicle — it is work, income, and part of how families survive. Because he understood both sides — the craft and the transport world — he saw a solution. He used the skill he already had to make seat covers. Not as decoration. But as a practical answer to a real problem.
First seat covers — the Quantum
From Langa to Khayelitsha
One Sewing Machine. One Flat. One Vision.
The business started in Langa, in a flat, with one sewing machine. That line sounds simple, but there is a whole life inside it. One sewing machine means there was no excess, no big production floor, no perfect setup — just skill, a machine, and the willingness to start.
Later, the business moved and grew in Khayelitsha — from the family home. At one point, the work was happening inside the lounge. The business was not outside the life of the family. It was inside it. It was in the sound of the sewing machine, in customers coming through, in the family making space — not only physically, but emotionally — for something they believed could grow.
“It was not glamorous, but it was real. And maybe that is why the business has heart in it — it was built from inside ordinary life.”
From a flat in Langa, to Khayelitsha
A torn seat became a doorway. A solution became a business.
And slowly, that service became Vuyos Trans World.

The Quiet Strength Behind the Business
Nopinky — prayer, sacrifice, steady hearts
Behind Vuyos Trans World, there is also the steady strength of Nopinky. Her contribution is not only practical, although it is deeply practical. With more than 10 years of retail experience, she brings an understanding of customers, service, order, communication, and daily responsibility.
She knows that a business is not only about what it sells, but how people are treated when they walk in, ask questions, raise concerns, or trust you with their money. But her role goes deeper than that. She has carried the family and the business in ways that are not always visible.
“Some parts of the business were built by hand. Others were carried in prayer.”
A Mother’s Sacrifice
Belief Taking Financial Form
Over time, Nopinky took a loan so that a bungalow workspace could be secured for the business. That was not a small thing. That was belief taking a financial form. It was not just saying, “I support you.” It was carrying risk. It was making room for the business to stand more properly.
Vuyos Trans World was not only built by one man’s skill. It was carried by a family that believed the skill was worth making room for, worth supporting, worth sacrificing for, and worth building around.
The VTW workstation
Old Skill, New Thinking
The Next Generation Is Already Involved
Vuyos Trans World carries an interesting kind of strength. It has the depth of an older generation, but also the eyes of a younger one. Behind the scenes, the children are actively involved — bringing business thinking, design sense, marketing, administration, and digital ideas.
Craftsmanship without systems can remain hidden. Systems without real craftsmanship can become empty. But when skill meets newer thinking, the business becomes stronger — more structured, more visible, more professional, and more prepared for growth.
The Craft
Years of leather, stitching, and vehicle interior knowledge. Work that is tested by daily use and built to last.
The Care
Honest pricing. Practical solutions. Understanding of taxi owners and customers who work hard every day.
The Faith
Prayer, sacrifice, and steady support from a family that believed in the business before the world could see it.
The Future
New thinking, digital presence, and structured systems — honouring where the business came from while building forward.
A business shaped by skilled hands. Carried by steady hearts.
That is the story of Vuyos Trans World.
03
When Skill Becomes Something You Give Away
Skills transfer — people trained, lives changed
One of the most powerful parts of this business is that the skill did not stay in one pair of hands. It could have. But over the years, people came through the business and learned. Some needed work, some needed direction, some came with very little — and some needed a skill that could help them survive.
Somehow, the business became more than a place where products were made. It became a place where people could learn how to use their hands. That is not a small thing. A practical skill can change a person’s direction — give someone income, confidence, and the ability to say: I can do something. I can make something. I can work.
“A practical skill can change a person’s direction. It can give someone the ability to say: I can make something. I can work.”
A Story That Carries Weight
One Story Among Many
One young man came through the business. He was housed, clothed, trained, and given a skill. Today he runs his own business and takes care of his family. That is not just employment. That is someone’s life being touched by the work. He is not the only one. There are others who passed through, learned something, earned something, and left with more than they came with.
Skills training
So when we speak about job creation, youth development, and skills transfer, we are not trying to decorate the website with nice words. These things were already happening quietly. Before there was a formal impact statement, people were already being trained. Before the business had the language for it, the work was already speaking.
The Heart Behind the Work
The Person Matters as Much as the Product
With Luvuyo, the work has never only been about finishing a job. It has always been about doing it properly. He cares about the stitching, the fit, whether the product makes sense for the customer, and whether it will last when the vehicle is used every day.
In many cases, he probably charges less than what the work is worth — not because the work is not excellent, but because he understands ordinary people. He understands taxi owners and customers who are not always buying from comfort, but from need. The work matters, yes. But the person matters too.
“Skill without care can become cold. It can forget the people it is meant to serve. That has never been the spirit of this business.”
Job Creation
Sustainable employment rooted in Khayelitsha. Stable income and real pathways for local people.
Skills Transfer
Sewing, fitting, upholstery, customer care — practical skills that let people build their own futures.
Youth Development
Young people given direction, tools, and the confidence that comes from knowing how to make something with their hands.
Community Rooting
A business that stayed in Khayelitsha. That kept hiring locally. That never forgot where it came from.
Before there was a formal impact statement, people were already being trained.
Before the business had the language for it — the work was already speaking.

The Road Has Always Been Part of the Story
Transport roots, future vision, the road ahead
Transport is not something Vuyos Trans World is adding from nowhere. In many ways, the road has always been part of the business story. Before the staff transport service became something to formalise, Luvuyo had already spent years close to vehicles, taxis, drivers, passengers, and the daily movement of people.
At one point, he was also transporting staff and children in an Avanza, and people loved the way he carried that responsibility. It was not only about driving. It was about reliability, care, patience, and making sure people arrived safely. Transport is not a new direction. It is part of the road already walked.
VTW transport
“The same heart that shaped the workmanship also shapes the transport service: practical service, reliability, and care for people who need to keep moving.”
Built for the Road Ahead
A Company Being Built Around the Craft
The vision is bigger than the beginning. The aim is not only to make seat covers. It is to build a company that becomes known for durable vehicle interiors, reliable transport solutions, practical workmanship, and meaningful opportunity. A company that understands taxi owners because it has been close to that world. A company that understands customers because it has served them from the ground up.
Where VTW Is Heading
Not growth that forgets the story — but growth that honours it. Still rooted. Still growing. Still carrying the same spirit that built it.
Better systems and consistent service delivery
Stronger online presence and visibility
Reliable, managed staff transport solutions
Expanded skills development and job creation
More customer types served with confidence
A business that carries both its roots and its future
